G. Kevin Dewey is the Director of the Dearborn Community Chorus.
Artistic Director G. Kevin Dewey earned a Bachelor's degree in jazz studies and a Master's degree in choral conducting from Wayne State University. He has been conducting area choirs for four decades and also brings to the podium his experience as a professional vocal and instrumental performer, composer, and arranger. In addition to the Dearborn Community Chorus, Kevin is the Artistic Director of Vanguard Voices and conducts Renaissance Voices and Blue Fusion vocal jazz ensemble. In summer months, Dewey directs the 130-plus voice Dearborn Summer Chorus. He has led the stage orchestra in the Players Guild of Dearborn productions of Chicago and 1940s Radio Hour and the HFC productions of Sweeney Todd, Pippin, The Music Man, The Wiz, Oliver, Tommy, Grease, and Hairspray.
Dewey leads the ensembles he conducts with vibrancy, enthusiasm, and the joy of performing the world’s great music.
Alex Meyers joined the Dearborn Community Chorus as an Accompanist in the Fall of 2023.
He holds a bachelor's degree in theatre from Central Michigan University, where he gained experience accompanying musicals, including Studs Terkel's "Working" and Jason Robert Brown's "The Last Five Years." He has been playing piano professionally in bars and country clubs for 20 years and recently retired from a church musician position of 9 years.
Alex has lived in metro Detroit his entire life and now hails from Farmington Hills.
